How to get rid of bugs/mosquitos.

Para ayudar con la continua lucha contra los mosquitos transmisores de la enfermedad del dengue y dengue hemorrágico, les traemos una trampa casera que puede matar muchos de estos insectos y otros insectos.

To help us with our constant battle against mosquitos and the Dengue Epidemic, we bring you a homemade trap that will help you eliminate mosquitos and other pesky insects, this trap also works great with pesty Ants and Roaches.

Lo que básicamente se necesita es:

The basic items needed for making a trap are;

200 ml de agua, o sea 12 oz. de agua

12 oz. of hot water

50 gramos de azúcar negra, o sea 6 cucharas de azúcar negra.
6 spoons of brown sugar.

1 gramo de levadura o sea un 1/2 cuchara de levadura.

1/2 a spoon of yeast.

y una botella de plástico de 2 litros o sea un botella plástico de Coca Cola o otra marca (un Padrino):

A empty plastic quart bottle of Coco Cola or another brand.

A continuación los pasos a seguir:

How to make your insect trap.

1. Cortá una botella de plástico por la mitad y quedate con la parte de abajo, pero no tirés la parte de arriba.

1. Cut the top part of the plastic bottle off as shown below, but do not throw it away.

2. Mezclá con agua caliente azucar negra. Cuando tengás el agua caliente mezclada con el azucar, deja que se enfriá el agua.

2. Mix hot water (7 oz.) with the brown sugar, let the mixture cool down.

3. Añadile la levadura. No hace falta mezclarlo. Se irá creando dioxido de carbono, que atrea a los mosquitos a la trampa.

3. Mix in the yeast, this will create carbon of dioxide.

This gas forms/escapes and attracts the mosquitoes. They will fly into the trap and then get stuck to the sugar coated sides or just wear themselves out trying to find an exit.

4. Ponele la parte de arriba adentro, como formando un embudo.

4. Take the top part of the bottle you cut off, and place it up side down inside the bottle, to create a funnel that points inwards as shown below.

5. Tapá toda la botella con algo negro, como una bolsa negra de basura, y colocalo en alguna esquina de tu patio, jardin. Los mosquitos le gustan el color negro, atrae a los mosquitos a la trampa.

5. Cover the outside of your trap with black plastic (like from a black plastic trash bag) use transparent tape to stick it together. Mosquitos like dark colors, this black color will attract them towards the trap.

En dos semanas podrás ver la cantidad de mosquitos que murieron en la botella.

With in 2 weeks you will be able to see all the mosquitos/insects that have died inside your trap.

Además de limpiar sus casas de criaderos de mosquitos y otros insectos, podemos hacerles frente con estos métodos caseros.

Se cambia la mezcla mensual.

Beside getting rid of puddles of water that create mosquito breeding grounds, we can also use this method to help control mosquitos and other pesty insects.

Trap's mixture should be changed monthly.

Si quieres hacer una trampa para cucarachas y otros insectos que le gustan el pan. Haz tu trampa sin el plástico negro y envese de la mezcla de azúcar/agua/levadura, eche un canto de pan adentro de tu trampa. Si te gusta pescar en agua dulce, puedes usar esta trampa para coger insectos vivos para carnada vivo.

If you want to make a trap for roaches and other insects that like bread. Make your trap with out the black plastic and instead of using the mixture of water/sugar/yeast, put a piece of bread inside your trap. If you like fishing, you could use this trap to catch live insects for bait.

Si quieres hacer una trampa para coger carnada vivo (pejecitos) usa un taladora eléctrico con una barrena de ¼ de una pulgada, haga muchas boquetes por los lados de la botella, para que los pejecitos pueden huelen el pan, usa un piedra como pesa adentro de tu trampa para hundirla. Ponlo amarado en la orilla donde viven pejecitos.

(Trap for bait fish) Also you could make a trap like this for catching live fish bait, just use a electrical drill with a 1/4" bit and drill lots of holes all around the base/sides of the trap, so that the bait fish can smell the bread inside of the trap and weigh down the trap with a rock so it will sink and tie it up on a stick on the shore and place the trap in the shores where bait fish hang out.
